What the world needs now isn’t “love sweet love”, it's more Tony Danza!

Happy Birthday to the BOSS! No, not Bruce Springsteen. I refer to the real boss. Mr. Tony Danza. Born 61 years ago today in Brooklyn, Anthony Salvatore LaDanza was a smart kid. Wrestling scholarship to Iowa. Golden Gloves Boxer. History major, and overall swell guy. We need more of this in our lives. More gusto. More drive more leadership. Hell, this guy even changed his name, for a brief period, to “Dangerous Danza”. Damn right he’s dangerous. Dangerously inspirational. If we could just put a little more Vitamin D (Danza) into our everyday, things would just be so..so…right.

I have some bones to pick with his co-stars. First of all, you should be ashamed Angela and Mona for pushing around a single father who drove a rusted out van into your Connecticut high-brow lives and only asked you to give him some part time jobs so he could raise his kid.  And boo-hoo Jonathan, who’s voice changed half way through the 7th season, you could have stood up for T a little more too. And don’t even get me going on the “knock-off” series featuring Scott Baio, Willie Ames, and their whole “Charles In Charge” attitude. Nice way to copy a classic. Cool guy comes into a broken house to help act as the glue. Only difference, Baio was kindergarten paste and Danza was f-ing “super glue”.  Though both your shows started the same year, The Boss prevailed for 2 additional seasons-even with Ames’ red curls that had the girls swooning. And that speaks volumes. So raise a glass to this 61-year old from Brooklyn genius who took a chance on acting and won. Because things need to change in this economy. It’s time to take a chance of our own and bring a little more  “danger” into our day. Tony “Danger” Danza that is.
